How Do You Meet What You See?

This reflection began with something ordinary.

I looked in the mirror and noticed my gray hair. The moment reminded me of how differently I once looked at myself… and how rarely I questioned the thoughts that followed what I saw.

I originally picked up my camera to recreate the moment for another video. Instead, I sat down as I was and began talking.

What followed became a conversation about appearance, conditioning, attention, breath, silence, authenticity, and the relationship we establish with ourselves through what we repeatedly believe and follow.

The invitation isn't to replace an unwanted thought with a better one, or to decide what you should see when you look at yourself.

It’s:

Can we create enough space to notice how we are meeting what we see?

We don't necessarily need a better thought or another way to fix what appears. Sometimes the practice begins by slowing down long enough to notice what is already happening… and allowing the breath to help us remain there.

An ordinary moment can reveal a great deal about the relationship we have been practicing with ourselves.

Sometimes the first movement of practice isn’t changing what appears, but becoming present enough to notice what happens next.

What happens when you meet yourself before trying to fix what you see?
