A New Beginning Needs Ground

A Virgo New Moon Reflection

New moons are often spoken about as opportunities to begin again. Plant the seed. Set the intention. Decide what you want to bring into your life.

But what are we planting that intention into?

We don't arrive at a new beginning empty.

We bring a body. A history. Relationships. Responsibilities. Beliefs. Habits. Existing commitments. Things we have already been practicing… sometimes for years.

This Virgo new moon invites us to examine the ground we are already standing on:

what has changed, what still supports life, what requires care, and what may need to be adjusted rather than abandoned.

In my latest reflection, I explore the Virgo New Moon not as a blank slate, but as a conscious practice for examining the soil we are standing in. Entering this lunation in the aftermath of the Pisces lunar eclipse, we are looking at what an intention requires when it encounters lived reality… our bodies, our time, our relationships, and our limits.

In this 26-minute reflection, we cover:

  • Why refinement isn't about fixing what's "wrong" with you.

  • Tracing your current story back to key cycle shifts in April, June, and late August.

  • Choosing one single condition in your calendar, space, or attention to tend this cycle.

If you're questioning your direction or feeling lost in the fog of changing plans, I hope this offers you somewhere supportive to land..

I have also included important dates discussed in the episode, reflection questions, and a simple practice you can return to between this new moon and the Aries full moon below.

Look Back
Before Moving Forward

Apr 19–20

beginning / initiation

Look back at what you were beginning, deciding, committing to, or trying to establish.

What was I trying to initiate?

Jun 9–10

changing conditions

Notice what entered the picture after the initial beginning.

What emotional, bodily, family, or relational condition became complicated?

What do I know now that I didn’t know at the beginning?

Aug 31–Sep 1

friction / consequence / adjustment

The Jupiter–Saturn trine brought possibility into relationship with structure, while Mars square Saturn revealed what the developing action now required.

Where did I encounter friction, delay, consequence, or limitation?

What information has experience given me?

Does the original intention need to be abandoned or adjusted?

Aug 31

venus enters the pre-retrograde shadow

A longer story begins around: value, desire, money, pleasure, worth, attraction, relationship, exchange, reciprocity, attachment, and choice.

Notice what is introduced instead of trying to decide what it means immediately.

What conversation begins?

What desire becomes more visible?

What exchange asks for honesty?

What choice reveals what I actually value?

Sept 10

virgo new moon

Rather than demanding certainty about what comes next.

notice what is being introduced.

Sep 26

aries full moon

The Virgo new moon opens an observation period that carries toward the Aries full moon.

The invitation isn’t to predict the culmination in advance.

Live the interval first.

Give yourself time with these questions. Choose one place to offer your presence, and let the practice enter your actual day.

Tending the Ground

Before deciding what needs to change, arrive where you are.

Feel your feet.

Notice the support beneath you.

Bring your attention to your breath without immediately needing to change it.

Orient to the room through your senses.

Notice the state from which you are entering the inquiry.

Then choose one condition to tend.
